Roamer is an app that lets you drastically reduce roaming costs (by up to 90%) when travelling and keep your usual phone number for incoming and outgoing calls. We use GSM to connect calls (not WiFi or 3G), thus offering excellent call quality irrespective of the internet connection speed.

You need a carrier lock free phone (a phone where you can insert a SIM card from another carrier) in order to use Roamer. If you are not sure about your phone, please call your mobile carrier's service center. In case the phone is locked, ask for the unlock code – most operators will provide this code if you have used the phone for 3-4 months.

There are three simple steps you should take to start using Roamer:

1) Install Roamer from AppStore or Google Play. The app is FREE! Don't forget to add calling credits to your Roamer account before departure.

2) Launch Roamer and forward calls before departure. Forward incoming calls to our service number in your area, which is assigned exclusively to you. Call charges are debited from your Roamer account.

3) Activate local SIM card in Roamer. Buy a SIM card in destination country. Launch Roamer to activate your new SIM card. Now, when somebody calls your usual home number, the calls will reach you while you are abroad. To make a call, just launch Roamer, choose the contact, press call and wait for a callback. The other party will see your usual number as a Caller ID.

Set the date and time of your trip and we will notify you a few hours before departure with a reminder to forward your calls! Remember, that you only have to forward calls right before your departure.

Actually, after you activate a newly inserted SIM card, the calls to your usual number will start reaching you like before! It's that simple. You don’t need WiFi or 3G at all!

Roamer works via a callback service. To make a call, launch Roamer, select a contact from the list (or type in the phone number) and press Call. Wait for the callback, pick up the phone and wait for the connection. The other party will see your usual number as the Caller ID!

No! We always use GSM to connect calls to ensure the best call quality possible. Incoming calls will reach your phone as usual, no 3G needed. To make an outgoing call, you will need a 3G/EDGE connection, since the app has to request a callback. No voice traffic is broadcasted over the data connection, which means we use almost none of your data plan.

It's always Pay-As-You-Go pricing - the calls are charged on a per-second basis, no hidden fees, no connection fees. All call charges are debited from your Roamer account, no carrier plan minutes are used (we use callback even for outgoing calls).

Don't worry! You can still use Roamer, but we will not be able to utilise your usual phone number. Instead, you will get a new temporary phone number in your home city, which will be used as your Caller ID for outgoing calls. You can also give this number to your friends or relatives so they call you at no extra charge for them while you are abroad.

Unfortunately, incoming SMS forwarding is not supported. However, you can still use iMessage (on your iPhone) or WhatsApp ;)

Once you arrive in your destination country, you install a new SIM card to use with Roamer. This means that you have a data plan from a local carrier, which is the cheapest option available. At the same time, you still keep your usual phone number for incoming and outgoing calls, and can make calls at rates up to 90% cheaper than in roaming.
